The Most Fun. The Most Variety.
Our unique Coed Team Tennis format mixes it up with men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles...all during the same match.
A coed team consists of 3 men and 3 women per team. The team captain determines who plays each week. Each team member plays a least 6 of 9 weeks.
Team Matches
A coed doubles team match
consists 4 sets. 1 set of men's doubles, 1 set of women's doubles and 2 sets of mixed doubles played on 2 side by side courts. You start out playing 1 regular set of doubles (men's or women's). Once finished you select one of your opposite sex teammates a play a set of mixed doubles.
Cumulative
Scoring for Teams
To ease the
pressures of competitive tennis, MatchMaker uses a cumulative scoring
format. The match winner is determined by totaling the games won
during all six sets. The team with most games won that day, wins
the match. This cumulative scoring allows a team to compensate for
weaker players or "bad days". Our intent is to play tennis
for fun, and to prevent fiercely competitive one sided matches.
Cumulative scoring allows any team to have a fair chance at winning
up through the end of the season. Each week the scores will be updated
on the web site to keep all players abreast of the standings.
In the event
of a 6-6 set score tie, the standard 12 point tiebreaker is used,
1 game is added to the tiebreaker winner and reported as 7-6
If a match ends
with a tied score, a tiebreaker is played and 1 game is added to
the winning team's score.
