Free Beginner Tennis Classes To Start THIS Month...
Do you wanted to learn how to play tennis? MatchMaker Tennis offers the BEST way for you to learn -- through our free classes. Each week, we work on 2 strokes found in tennis. By the end of the series, you should be able to play a basic game of tennis. If you want to learn more or want to sign up, click the EVENTS CALENDAR link above. On Saturday, April 29th, you will see the Free Beginners Tennis Class link.

Jingle Bell Ball Donating $6,000 to Battered Women's Shelter...
We hope that you were able to join us at the Jingle Bell Ball last year. Almost 400 people attended this affair. Pictures from the event are already on line. We will be able to donate $6,000 to the United Family Services' Shelter for Battered Women in Charlotte. We hope that you can attend the 2006 Jingle Bell Ball. Tickets for the Jingle Bell Ball Are Now Available...
The Jingle Bell Ball is an event that MMT supports. It is a holiday semi-formal event with a Silent Auction. All of the proceeds raised from this event, go to the United Family Services' Shelter for Battered Women in Charlotte.

MatchMaker Tennis would like to welcome a new tennis pro. His name is Wayne Hearn and he is the head pro at the Russell Tennis Center here in Charlotte. He has an EXCELLENT pro tennis record -- like being ranked #1 in the State for 7 of the last 8 years. He has 30 State titles. He has 10 Southern titles and 1 National title. He has wins over the likes of Agassi, Courier and Wilkins. Light hors d' oeuvres will be served and a cash bar will be available. Come and shoot the breeze or shoot some pool while meeting other tennis players in this relaxed environment. The only thing we ask is that you sign up so we can get a head count for the appetizers.

Racket Round-Up HUGE Success...
MatchMaker Tennis, joined forces with other area tennis orgnaizations to accomplish something great. 213 used tennis rackets were collected from participating clubs and stores in the Charlotte area. These rackets will be refurbished by Queens University's Tennis Department and Tim Plesant at the Jeff Adams Tennis Center. The rackets will then be used int he underpriviledged and multi-cultural programs this year. A special thank you goes out to all of the clubs and stores that participated and to all of the players who were able to donate their old rackets.

Free Beginner Tennis Classes for Adults...
It's that time of year again. MatchMaker Tennis will be running their Free Beginner Tennis Classes for Adults series. It is a 2 part series. On one Saturday, players will learn the basics on the forehand and serve. On the following Saturday, players will learn the backhand and volley. Racket Roundup!
MatchMaker Tennis is working with The Charlotte Tennis Association and Queen City Tennis Leagues to collect used tennis rackets. These rackets will be used for the underpriviledged and the multi-cultural programs. To find out how and where to donate your used tennis rackets, click this link.

We are having a Suber Bowl Sunday get-together that is open for tennis players and Panter fans alike. You can watch the game on a 9 foot by 12 foot screen plus other wide screens and jumbo screens. There will also be a game room with pool table, video games, pinball machines, foozeball tables and much more. Tickets are $20 and that includes the game and all you can eat:

Volunteers Needed!!!
Our community service project is the Jingle Bell Ball this year. We are raising money for the United Family Services' Shelter for Battered Women. In order to raise money to put on the ball, we take on fund raising projects to pay for the upfront expenses of the Jingle Bell Ball.
We need volunteers to help with the ArtsFest this September 25 - 27. There are different time slots open on different days. Our job will be to man a hot dog cart and 3 people are needed per shift.

Free Beginner Tennis Lessons Continue in August...
Did you just buy your tennis racquet? Have you played before in the past but need a refresher course? Come to our Saturday morning beginner classes.
MatchMaker Tennis has the clinic for you. We work with new tennis players to teach you the very basics of the game, ie: forehands, backhands, volleys and serves. When you are finished with the series, you will be able to keep score and play a very basic game of tennis. The best thing is the clinic is FREE!
